We had a nice dinner with a couple staying with us this weekend. It was a wonderful Sunday night dinner of White Bean Chicken & Sausage Confit Cassoulet (I know I butchered that but hopefully you get the point). We drank a week old Provenance Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 and opened a new bottle of 2003 Mettler Family Vineyard Petite Sirah.
Over some nice startup talk about communities, valuations and the motives of entreprenuers we sucked down a bottle and half of wine.
Mettler Family Vineyard Petite Sirah 2003 - it was an easy drinker, lovely fruit made a nice bottle of wine. It didn't blow me away and in retrospect it probably wasn't the ideal fit for the meal but I would drink it again. It scored well with the 'experts' getting a 90 from Wine Enthuiast and 91 from Wine & Spirits.
Provenance Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2004 - this was a little too harsh on first sip, it opened up a bit over the course of a week but it still had too much tannins. I had this bottle in a taste test recently and it didn't fare well.
I have to say I love big meals, thank you Boo for another great one!
