Bio Restaurant in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Humboldt 2199, Palermo Viejo/Palermo Hollywood) is an all organic vegetarian restaurant in the heart of the world's meat eating capital. It survives, thrives on quality and uniqueness in a city that seemingly can't get enough beef. The average Argentinian eats beef six days a week, so a vegetarian restaurant is unique.
Wine: Bodega Caligiore Malbec 2006 - inbalanced with too much fruit but good value ($13 bottle in the restaurant) for a drinkable wine. It delivered a nice buzz to complement the food.
Food:
Starters -
- Bruschetta with mushrooms and Parmesan cheese - using homemade bread, they baked the shrooms and cheese on.
- Veggie Empanadas of the day - a spinich base with chopped onion & black olives.
Main Courses -

- Mushrooms in a rich coconut milk curry sauce and accompanied by a mound of jasmine rice.
Summary -
This was a treat after white table cloth dining the past two weeks. Bio is informal but a sit down affair that will satisfy any open minded palette. On food alone this is 90+, if you're in Buenos Aires and looking for a healthy, delicious meal make your way here.
