This is a collection of restaurants and/or sights to check out when you're in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'm actually compiling the list for myself so I don't forget all the great recommendations I'm picking up from folks. If people have additional recommendations, please leave them in the comments section.
Sucre Restaurant - A hip steak place that was called 'our favorite' by one set of friends and raved by Vinography.com (a fellow SF area wine blog).
Sucre 676 (Belgrano)
Buenos Aires
Tel. 54-11-4782-9082
Gran Bar Danzon - owned by the same folks that run Sucre, this is in the same hip, super cool, house music style bar. But it's rumored to have very good food too so we're going to try it out.
Location:
Libertad 1161
Tel. 54-11-4811-1108
Cabana Las Lilas - called one of the best steakhouses in Buenos Aires and a favorite of another friend of ours. Alder from Vinography also does a beautiful write of this from a trip nearly two years ago.
Cabaña Las Lilas
Avenida Alicia Moreau de Justo 516 (Pureto Madero)
Buenos Aires, Argentina
54 (0) 11 4313-1336
Cambalache Pizza and Empanadas - this is reportedly the 'best empanadas' in Buenos Aires. I plan to test it out when I get to BA in a couple of weeks :)
Juncal 2601 at Laprida
Barrio Norte/Recoleta
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Tel: 4824-2219
La Brigada - another steakhouse, this one in the San Telmo region of the city. This is run/owned by a known wine fanatic collector who also runs a wine store down the street.
Estados Unidos 465
At Bolivar
Tel: 11-4361-5557
Here is an article from the NYTimes for a great long weekend (3 days) in Buenos Aires. We'll try to do some of this stuff.
I read about this bar/restaurant in the Palermo Soho district of Buenos Aires. It's called Bar 6 and while the menu can be quite ambitious and the almost too good looking servers lack service, grabbing a drink here is worth the experience.
