Another work dinner last night, this one at a new restaurant in San Francisco called Anchor & Hope. It's from the same folks that opened & run the Salt House & Town Hall. I love Town Hall but have been disappointed on both occasions that I've visited the Salt House. To top things off, when I arrived at the restaurant at 6:30, in San Francisco I mind you, it was 92 degrees (according to my car).
So I was happy to see somebody in our dinner party had already picked out a nice glass of refreshing white, I was so overheated that I never did get the name of it put it hit the spot.
The food was outstanding. I started with a quarter pound of fresh dungeness crab with a slight pepper mayo sauce that spiced it up. My main dish was one of their specials, a slightly seared, blackened tuna on top of chickpeas and two different flavored hummus'. I'm drooling thinking about how good it was. I'm excited to return. The online menu is generic but I can assure you its all good, fresh faire that won't disappoint (unless you don't like fresh fish :).
For dinner we ordered a bottle of local, Monterey region, Grenache. I can't recall specifically what it was (it was too hot for me to take notes) but it wasn't anything memorable. I liked its smooth finish but to get that it didn't have anything distinct upfront.
