I spent the first half of this week in New York on business and had an incredible run of spectacular meals.
- Monday breakfast was at Balthazar, the french restaurant on Spring street in Soho.
- Monday lunch was at the Spotted Pig, eating a delicious but expensive burger and tasting their chicken liver topped toast (I won't try that again, but that's just a personal taste).
- Monday dinner was Snack, a hellenic eatery in Soho (on Thompson between Spring & Prince) that was the highlight of the trip. I had the moustaka (eggplant instead of meat) with a wonderful baklava for dessert.
- Tuesday breakfast was at the Mercer Kitchen on Prince in Soho. I'd eaten lunch here but never breakfast, it was solid but not memorable.
- Tuesday lunch we took a customer to Hundred Acres, where I had a fresh chicken salad.
- Tuesday dinner was the first casual meal at the famously high zagat rated, Kat's Deli, where I had a solid corned beef, reuben sandwich.
- Wednesday morning I spent breakfast at Alice's Tea Cup on the upper east side eating home made pumpkin scones and granola.
- Wednesday lunch, my last meal in NYC, was at a chain mexican restaurant in union square called Rosa Mexicano. They made homemade guacamole at the table and my roasted pork dish was better than I could ever anticipate.
So net net, it was a great food trip but I certainly added a couple pounds that I need to work off over the next few weeks.
This sounds like the best week ever.
