An Auberge resort on the Silverado Trail in Calistoga, Ca, Solage Calistoga is a modern contemporary meets urban hip spa resort.
Every guest room (nearly all) are their own bungalow's, each room comes with two beach cruiser bikes (to ride to downtown Calistoga or local wineries), the grounds include a full gym, yoga/dance studio, spa, baths and Olympic size pool.
The restaurant, Solbar, is at the center of the grounds serving breakfast, lunch & dinner. What's amazing is that less than two years into existence it was awarded a Michelin star and quickly has developed into one of the top restaurants in northern Napa county.
The resort is top notch, facilities are immaculate and well thought out, location (short bike ride to downtown Calistoga) is a huge plus and overall I would highly recommended it for a romantic getaway or small business retreat.
Good post. I like to read your posts. well written. thank you.

The Science of Wine: From Wine to Glass by Jamie Goode is one of my favorites. It won't tell you much about speicfic varietals and regions, but it's a fascinating and very informative look at the science that goes into making and enjoying wine. Really, a chapter on partial root drying is more interesting than you'd think.
