One of the benefits of my job is that I often find myself at work functions in a position to either select good wine or taste some chosen by somebody with far more knowledge than myself. Since my love affair with vino started a couple years ago I found this is my best opportunity to explore & learn about wine. This past week I had several work dinners but one in particular on Thursday evening at LuLu's in San Francisco.

Last night my wife & I ate at Torch Restaurant, an intimate Italian styled eatery in the Beacon Hill area of Boston. Located on Charles Street (26 Charles Street, Boston, MA), half a block from the Boston Gardens, we enjoyed a nice late meal and an Oregon Pinot Noir.
Wine: We ordered a bottle of Adelsheim Pinot Noir 2004 Willamette Valley. It was a light, easy drinking wine that was good but undistinguishable.
Food: We each ordered a first course. Though the Salmon Tartare with Japanese rice & wasabi vinaigrette was recommended, we decided on the Potato Gnocchi with Artichoke, Tomato & Parmesano Reggiano & an Endive Salad with Bacon, Maytag Blue Cheese and Sherry Walnut Vinaigrette. The Gnocchi was outstanding but heavy, the salad was good but nothing great.
